Queens School’s Amateur Radio Club Offers Messaging Lifeline to Puerto Rico – Jackson Heights – New York – DNAinfo

The station — known by its call sign, K2GSG — is taking messages known as “radiograms” to send down to hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico, which has been mostly without power since Hurricane Maria struck the island.

I find this cool on a couple of levels: one, they’re helping Puerto Rico in a very important and tangible way, and second, they’re learning about amateur radio and how it can be a lifeline in an emergency.
