More than $170,000 raised in 24 hours for mother and three kids facing eviction

On Monday, Dasha Kelly was facing eviction and didn’t know how she was going to pay her back rent. A day later, thanks to strangers, more than $170,000 has been raised so far for her and her three daughters.

This is a great story, but to me the kicker is how many people are stepping up to help with eviction support all over. I’ve said before I’m concerned this will be a large problem, so good on all the folks stepping up to help, in whatever way they choose.

Update: yep, I’m aware CNN is investigating some of the claims. I selected this item prior to that note appearing. Focus instead on the number of people willing to donate to help their neighbors. That remains pretty darned cool.

The Olympics tends to get enough coverage that I don’t feel the need to post many here, but I think this one flew under the radar. Very inspiring.
