Louis Nicolao dove into an icy pond to save his dog, Moose, after he fell into the water in Anne Arundel County.

I love how social media essentially enabled this rescue.

In early December, the Parrett family met and fell in love with a stray dog while visiting family in Texas. The family had to leave it behind so they could fly home－but were reunited again on Christmas Day.

Craig Elston, stranded at his barbershop, welcomed 40 people into his business on Friday night to give them shelter from the blizzard. Nearly 30 remained through Saturday, the blizzard’s second night.

United Airlines staff rescued a dog abandoned by his owner at San Francisco International Airport and found him a forever home with one of its pilots.
