As 2018 draws to a close I just want to express my thanks to everyone who’s been following along, be it via email, the Not All News Is Bad Facebook Page, or somewhere else. I’m deeply grateful for your allowing me to be a small part of your day. This started simply as a personal project, but I’m gratified if it’s helping others along the way.
My message with Not All News Is Bad (or NANIB, as I often, somewhat geekily refer to it 🙂 ) is simply that there are many stories of good things in the world that you may not otherwise hear of simply don’t make the big splashy, scary headlines you’ll find on traditional news sources. My hardest job each day is picking which current story to feature, there are that many to choose from.
There is so much negativity in the world right now that seems to be dividing us, it’s important to remember that there’s a lot that brings us together as well. As much as those splashy headlines might lead us to think otherwise, I still believe strongly that there is more than unites us than divides us, and that people are basically good when given the opportunity.
You just have to look for it.
For 2019 I’m also going to ask you to help others see it as well. Share NANIB with the people you care about (Facebook, forward the email, have them subscribe, whatever works). Honestly, it doesn’t even have to be NANIB: look for the good, and when you see it, share it. As I said, there’s a lot of it out there, and everyone needs to be reminded.
Honestly, the name says it all: Not All News Is Bad. We’ve had 360 daily reminders of that this year. (I missed a couple of days.) There’ll be 360+ more coming your way in 2019.
Best wishes for a safe, happy, healthy, and positive 2019.
