A former Royal Air Forces pilot has taken to the skies in a Spitfire at 102 years old. Jack Hemmings, an ex-squadron leader with Britain’s air force, is believed to be the oldest pilot to fly the World War II plane.

An exciting new study from PHS, in collaboration with the Universities of Strathclyde and Edinburgh, shows that no cervical cancer cases have been detected in women vaccinated at age 12-13 since the Human papillomavirus (HPV) immunisation programme started in Scotland in 2008.

MRI ‘signature’ may reveal dementia 5-to-10 years before symptoms appear

Comparing the brain MRIs of people with and without dementia, researchers have identified an accurate ‘signature’ that may signal a person’s risk of developing the disease five to 10 years before symptoms appear. The novel biomarker could provide an early diagnosis, allowing therapeutic interventions to slow the disease’s progress.
