November 19, 2017 by Leo

“She was my angel that morning and did everything that a person should do in this type of situation.”

True stories of kind acts by strangers.

This actually reminds me of HeroicStories: stories of everyday people doing good … every day. This kind of everyday kindness happens a lot more than I think we realize or pay attention to.

Nanomachines that drill into cancer cells killing them in just 60 seconds developed by scientists

November 16, 2017 by Leo

DNA

These nanomachines are so small that we could park 50,000 of them across the diameter of a human hair, yet they have the targeting and actuating components combined in that diminutive package to make molecular machines a reality for treating disease.

This technology is exciting for so many reasons, cancer being just one of them.

Kindness, compassion, empathy and patience can go a long way — even in Walmart.

I’ve seen this kind of thing myself. It’s both common, and touching.

Nurses helped sneak dog into hospital to say goodbye [Video]

His wife, Cindy, took matters into her own hands, and with the help of the nurses, she was able to sneak their Yorkie mix in for one last goodbye.

I do wish hospitals were a little more permissive in this regard. Note, however, that the nurses and staff involved helped make it happen as well.

Alaska Flight Attendants Ensure Purse Catches Up To Owner

Alaska Airlines, […] you have restored my faith in humanity today. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have done.

Coincidentally I flew Alaska Airlines the next day. I can attest to their great customer service reputation being well warranted. I’m sure that, for them, this was just another day — for Lauren Whiteside, it was anything but.

100,000 is just a fraction of the Puerto Rican population (albeit it very grateful fraction, I’m sure), but what’s most exciting to me is how quickly these balloons were put into place, and what this kind of ability promises for the future.

This is exciting … for burn victims, naturally, but I expect the techniques being pioneered here will be brought to bear on a much wider range of issues as well.

There are lots of “good kids” out there… this is a great example of one.

His story is inspiring. Turning his misfortune into skills that will help many others in similar situations.
