India is setting up a countrywide facial recognition system, which will be one of the largest ones ever built. It will assist police forces, which are among the most understaffed in the world, to arrest criminals and find missing persons.

I know facial recognition worries some, and rightfully so, but there’s another side to the technology: “We were able to match 10,561 missing children with those living in institutions … They are currently in the process of being reunited with their families.”
I do not object to some positive uses. I am worried about possible over and mis-use and invasion of privacy. There should be some regulation as far as the use of the software. There may be plans to do something about our concerns, but I do nor trust a system like this.
We should be able to maintain some privacy. I want to feel secure, but I don’t want facial recognition technology to used when it isn’t necessary. I don’t feel that we need to be watched by the government constantly..
