It’s great to see conservation efforts have actual, tangible results, particularly for something as symbolic as the Bald Eagle.

“Paralyzed” is technically the wrong word. Cerebellar Hypoplasia is more complex than that. We had a kitty with it — “Lurch” — for many years. I can attest to the struggle, and the excess of personality in Lurch’s case as well. After viewing Tumbelina’s story above, you can read more about Lurch too.

It’s not an excuse to abuse the planet at will, but it’s definitely nice to see Mother Nature taking care of herself sometimes.

Further quoting the linked article:

“My income didn’t allow me to afford dental insurance,” said Air Force veteran Nadine Nowlin. “So without any coverage, it’s the last thing that gets taken care of. To honor our veterans specifically on that day, is a gift from Aspen Dental.”

A wonderful and meaningful way to give back.

They didn’t have to. 100 of them certainly didn’t have to. But they did. “He wanted it to be a special day, for Esteban to feel the support of his second family, the ones in uniform.”

This is so cool. There are two aspects mentioned in the linked story that I want to draw attention to: it spurred other restaurants to do it, and paying customers are now occasionally over-paying in order to fund the effort. Nice.

What I truly appreciate about this is how total strangers come together spontaneously to catch her — something that just one or two could not have done.
