In May 2022, Alyssa, 13 from Leicester, became the first reported patient in the world to receive base-edited T-cells at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH), in collaboration with the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health (UCL GOS ICH), to treat her ‘incurable’ T cell leukaemia.

THE River Mersey has been labelled “the best environmental news story in Europe” after sharks and rare fish were located in it.

This is just one example of environmental recovery stories I’ve encountered in the past couple of weeks. Forward progress exists, and it’s quite encouraging.

To clear the streets, Södertälje spends around 20m Swedish kronor (over $2,200,000), so the hope is that the birds can help cut these costs.

One of those things happening quietly in the background that deserves more attention.
